What, wait… the prices for food and beverages in the supermarket and in restaurants are not the “real” prices?
You have to add tax on top?
And what? Tip comes on top too?
Well… it still takes me some time to get used to this and to adjust - remembering that tax is always added at then end. Here in Colorado, the sales tax is about 7%.
A different topic is tipping in restaurants. In general, if you go to a self-service restaurant like Torchy’s Tacos or Chipotle, you don’t have to tip. If you go to a restaurant, the rule of thumb is to tip 15-20% of your bill.
I know, especially for Germans, this sounds like a lot as we “don’t like to tip”… when we get a bill worth €14.45 we give €15 and say: keep the rest.

What’s Up with Peloton???
Of course, we’ve all waited for the hype to slow down, which came as fast as the company grew throughout the covid19-all-gyms-are-closed period.
Yes, I felt honored and super excited when I got invited to the Peloton casting in early 2021 to become a Tread Instructor… Fun Fact: I almost fell off the Treadmill during my casting class 😅
After changing CEOs, cutting nearly 3,600 jobs, outsourcing manufacturing, closing storefronts, and raising the price of its Bike+ and Treadmill, Peloton’s restructuring doesn’t seem to be done yet.
But what I wonder about most is, that none of the instructors which make a gooood amount of money, talk about that issue.
Why? Everyone pretends nothing is happening. But wouldn’t it be more authentic to just address that topic? (source: NYT)

Sleep is one of the most important pillars for good health, yet according to a recent study, one-third of US adults are not getting enough sleep.
Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of total sleep to perform well and stay healthy, but on average people are getting 6.8 hours. Acknowledging the importance of sleep and optimizing it are separate issue. To date, pulling an all-nighter and working around-the-clock has been cooool, but now adequate sleep is a nonnegotiable.
Companies liek Eight Sleep is defining “sleep fitness” making sleep optimization a hotly embraced topic of conversation.
Aggravating the problem, pandemic-era lockdowns and infections have disrupted sleep patterns even more. 56% of people reported an increase in sleep disturbances during the pandemic. To cope, 51% of US adults used medication, supplements, or other substances to help them fall asleep.
According to research, lack of sleep has been linked to a higher risk of chronic illnesses like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Take a look at what you can do to improve your sleep!
