LOS #8: Staying LEAN While Traveling

Staying LEAN While Traveling 🤌
I recently embarked on a journey from Boulder to the Jersey Shore.
This involved a tiring overnight trip for the 4th of July weekend.
Despite the lack of sleep on the red eye flight, delays, storms and my busy schedule at the airport, we made it to the beach.
This trip is special as it allows me to spend quality time with my wife.
But, there are a few challenges I need to overcome while ensuring I make the most of this long weekend:
Being present: It is crucial for me to focus on my loved ones rather than work during trips.
Balancing work: Although I have a lot of work to do, I plan to tackle it during the quiet hours.
Staying healthy while indulging: I like to enjoy the local cuisine and experiences while maintaining my health. In fact, I even hope to return home in better shape than before.
To achieve these goals, I have made an action plan:
Prioritizing quality sleep: Getting at least 7hrs of sleep per night.
Embracing physical activity: Starting the day with a workout, either a run or HIIT together with my wife. Being active at the beach as well.
Balanced eating: Focusing on protein first, so I can enjoy the local cuisine (seafood & WaWa Hoagies) too.
Boosting energy and vitality: Utilizing supplements to get in all necessary nutrients. Think Athletic greens, Zinc, and Magnesium.
Remember, the strategies I've shared apply not only to travel but also to everyday life.
Even during busy periods we can focus on our health and performance without sacrifice.
This is Health By Design.
We have to lead, uplift others, protect, provide, and inspire.
Sometimes, we don't have the luxury of taking days off, nor should we desire them.
We must perform even under hectic and chaotic circumstances.
This requires careful planning and unwavering focus.
